Take features the in-depth stories of people in New England who are making culture happen in the fields of visual art, music, design, literature, dance, film, food, fashion, and theater. Returning with their print issues after a brief hiatus, Take reached out for custom illustrations of advocate for the arts, Kristina Newman-Scott, for the October/November 2017 issue and then of rapper and social justice advocate, Machakos Kyalo, for the December 2017/ January 2018 issue. The illustration of Kristina Newman-Scott was created with ink, charcoal, conté, and graphite. The illustration of Machakos Kyalo was created with graphite, watercolor, and gouache.
